Thoughts on Suboxone (and medication-assisted treatment in general). Also, include Subutex and Sublocade (which are other forms of Buprenorphine). Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a controversial topic in the world of addiction and recovery. In the past, it was mostly just methadone, but now it’s Buprenorphine which is the main ingredient in Suboxone, Subutex, and Sublocade. In this video, you’ll hear my professional opinion about suboxone (opiate replacement medication). I strongly suggest that people/families educate themselves on this issue before they make a decision.
Suboxone is a medication given to individuals who are dependent (addicted) to pain pills or heroin. It’s made up of mostly buprenorphine and a little naloxone.
Buprenorphine is a longer lasting opiate (same as pain pills) and naloxone is an opiate blocker.
